How to find us from Granada Airport

The Airport at Granada is situated in the area of “Santa Fe” by the A92 motorway.

Leave the Airport and follow the signs for the A92 in the direction of Granada. You will be driving west and the trip to Granada will take about 10 minutes.

Before Granada City you will be in the suburb of Maracena but still on the Motorway.

At this point you should be watching for the signs to Motril and the E902 motorway. The motorway to Motril will take you South with the city of Granada on your left and the Sierra Nevada Mountains behind the city (they will probably be Snow capped any time between November and the end of May).

Continue South on the E902 over the high plains of almond and olives passing the towns of Padul and Durcal on your left.

The road then begins to descend towards the coast passing Lecrin on your right and the man made lake in the Lecrin Valley. The motorway ends soon but the road continues on to the coast. You will pass a second lake on your left.

You will pass a small bridge over the river on your left which is the closest entrance to the Alpujarras. Continue on the main road passing the small village of Vélez Benaudalla (pronounced Veles Benaudaya) which sits above the road on your left.

You will now pass through one of the most spectacular gorges which carries the riverbed of the River Guadalfeo – not much water these days as it has been dammed to form the lakes mentioned earlier.

You are now in the flat region of the Guadalfeo Delta passing the fruit orchards growing cherimoya (custard fruit), avocado, lemons and oranges.

You will very shortly reach the Junction with the N340 to Almería (left) and Málaga (right).

Take the road in the direction of Málaga which is to the West – to your right..

Now on the N340 ahead and to your left is the white village of Salobreña sitting on the side of a hill with the Moorish Castle on the top.

Continue to drive past Salobreña in the direction of Málaga. You will pass the coastal towns of Almuñécar and La Herradura and then the town of Nerja.

At the second Nerja texit from the motorway, take the slip road & at the roundabout turn right following the sign posts to Frigiliana and then Competa.
